A cantata in 15 movements for soprano and baritone solos, 1-3 choirs and small orchestra. Particularly suitable for any type of remembrance concert.
Duration: 70 minutes
Dies Irae was commissioned jointly by Leatherhead Choral Society and Epsom Male Voice choir to form part of the Battle of The Somme centenary commemoration. The Latin title, taken from the Requiem Mass, can be translated as "Day Of Anger" - in other words, "Judgement Day".
The work can be performed by a single mixed-voice choir. Alternatively, for the full dramatic effect an upper-voice children's choir and/or a male-voice choir can be added.
